We sat talking. I threw back my head and laughed out loud at something you said. I was happy, very happy, I remember. It was nice to lay my head on your lap. The feeling of home after long years of being away, made me smile with joy.
I blinked my eyes and suddenly I was alone. I ran across the street looking for you. Where could you be? You were with me, just a second ago. I looked everywhere, banged on doors, called out for you, ran up streets and down again. Where did you go? Tears ran down my eyes.
I woke up with a start to realize, you were long gone. Gone forever!
